Tap Into Your Fall Creativity with Roger’s Gardens Workshops

Roger’s Gardens is ready to help you start getting into the fall spirit with some of its upcoming events. Here are a few workshops and demonstrations that you might want to check out this month.

Geode Terrarium Workshop

Chris Patterson and Susan Watts will present a Geode Terrarium Workshop on September 13th from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm. At the workshop, participants will be guided through how to create their own geode terrarium as they learn the art of terrarium design. Plant care and maintenance will also be explored. The cost of the workshop is $100 per person, with the fee covering the cost of all supplies as well as step-by-step instruction. Supplementary materials and plant materials will also be available for an additional fee. Specific varieties of plants may not always be available.

Raised Bed Gardening

A free Raised Bed Gardening workshop will be provided on September 16th from 9:00 am until 10:00 am by horticulturalist and vegetable expert David Rizzo. The informative talk will provide participants with everything they need to know about raised bed gardening, including the benefits of growing vegetables and herbs in this way. Irrigation, soil types and plant and vegetable selection will all be explored. Soil amendments, fertilizers and solutions for addressing insects and disease will be explored.

Succulent Pumpkin Workshops

A series of one-day workshops will be offered in September and October by Original Designs team leader Onita Castillo. At this workshop, participants will be guided through how to create a succulent pumpkin centerpiece that will last for months with the proper care. The workshop includes materials and step-by-step instructions for creating the centerpiece as well as instructions for caring for and artistically pruning the centerpiece as the succulents begin to grow.

The cost of the workshop is $100, with an additional fee charged for those who wish to purchase supplementary supplies or plant materials. Workshops are offered September 20th and 23rd as well as October 14th.

Our Favorite Flowering Shrubs for Your Garden

Our Favorite Flowering Shrubs for your Garden will be presented on September 30th from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. Presented by Landscape General Manager Tim Fiskin, the workshop will explore some of his favorite flowering shrubs for the garden. Participants will learn design ideas, installation tips and maintenance practices for the proven garden performers explored during the workshop.

Celebration of Fall

A free Celebration of Fall demonstration will take place on October 21st from 9:00 am until 10:00 am. At this special demonstration, Eric Cortina will demonstrate his natural support and style with fall décor. Garlands, wreaths and fresh floral arrangements will be highlighted while using elements fro the garden and the Roger’s Gardens floral studio. Participants will learn valuable tips and trade secrets to help them celebrate the autumn season.

Fall Floral Workshop

Presented by Floral Designer Allison Whiteman on October 21st from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm, the Fall Floral Workshop guides participants through creating their own stunning fall floral arrangement. Participants will receive a vessel, seasonal fresh cut stems and step-by-step instructions for creating an arrangement. The cost of the workshop is $125 per arrangement, with supplementary supplies and plant materials being available for an extra fee.
